Federal Contract Information

Definition

Federal Contract Information is information, not intended for public release, that is provided by or generated for the Government under a contract to develop or deliver a product or service. It excludes information the Government makes public and simple transactional information such as payment processing.

FCI is broader than the signed contract. Purchase orders, part drawings, delivery schedules, statements of work, and related correspondence for a federal deliverable are usually FCI. It is not classified information. CMMC Level 1 exists to protect FCI.
