Short Answer

You perform the self-assessment, record the results in SPRS, and then have your Affirming Official complete the separate affirmation in SPRS. Entering the results and affirming them are two distinct steps, and access setup is usually the slowest part.

The steps, in order

Get access through SAM.gov and PIEE, where your account administrator approves the SPRS roles. Complete the self-assessment against the fifteen requirements. Enter the result in SPRS, which captures the level, the status date, the scope, and the outcome. Have the Affirming Official complete the affirmation in SPRS as a separate action.

The step people miss

Entering the results is not the end. The affirmation is a separate click, completed by the senior Affirming Official, and without a current affirmation the status is not considered complete. Nothing is uploaded to SPRS; you keep your evidence yourself.
